About metal spinning
Shaping metal like pottery
Imagine starting in the 4th century BC, when the Egyptians excelled not only in building pyramids but also in spinning beautiful gold bowls for their grapes, mirrors, and jars for cosmetics and liquids.
They primarily used copper, bronze, gold, silver, tin, and iron. Likewise, inspired by the potter’s technique of shaping round, symmetrical objects with rotating clay on a lathe, they adapted to a metal forming method.
This, consequently, led to a remarkable evolution in metal spinning.
Production meet the demands of modern industri
In the 21st century, we now primarily use advanced CNC/PNC machines to shape your metal applications, with extreme precision and efficiency.
Today, metal spinning has evolved from ancient golden fruit bowls to sophisticated components like for example hydrogen turbines, maritime equipment, aircraft parts, and food production. As a result, it continues to meet the demands of modern industry.
Morerover, Special alloys like Hastelloy, Inconel, Palladium, and Monel are used in demanding industries such as aerospace, chemical and energy, thanks to their properties like rust resistance, durability, and resistance to heat, pressure, and chemicals.

Metal Spinning technique
The drawing shows the principles in metal spinning. The initial metal disc is shown above the center line. Using a spinning roller, the blank is forced against a mandrel meanwhile creating the interior dimension of the part. Furthermore, to obtain a perfect finish, the process can be followed by smoothing out the surface of the part. In addition, edges can be cut and rolled in the same operation.
Materials for metal spinning
All metals that can be cold formed can be metal spun too. Importantly, metal spinning gives a higher material density than, e.g., deep drawing.
Stainless Steel
Steel
Alloy
Copper
Brass
Titanium
Hastelloy
Inconel
Paladium
And more…
Tooling and material savings
Metal Spinning – a competitive method
In recent years, this technique has undergone remarkable development and is, therefore, a highly competitive method, both technically and economically. Furthermore, Olsen Metal is on the leading edge in this field.
In metal spinning, companies often find that tooling is less expensive compared to other forming methods, such as deep drawing or die casting. Additionally, companies can achieve savings through reduced material usage.
CNC
At Olsen Metal, we utilize new CNC spinning machines to produce parts with diameters ranging from 0 to 1200 mm and thicknesses up to 12 mm, using materials such as stainless steel 1.4404.
Materials
Metal spinning provides greater freedom in selecting materials because you can create a limitless variety of shapes through the process.
Olsen Metal specializes in all steels and metals, including:
- Stainless steel
- Titanium
- Aluminium
- Special alloys (Hastelloy, Inconel, Paladium,Monel etc.)
- Steel
- Copper
- Brass
Maximize efficiency and quality by leveraging our cutting-edge technology and likewise skilled expertise. You can reduce material waste, enhance product performance, and in addition achieve significant cost savings.

Sustainable productions and Recyling
Partnering with us not only enhances your environmental footprint but also supports sustainable manufacturing practices that benefit our planet.
CO2 emission
Olsen Metal has identified Scope 1, 2, and 3 CO2 emissions and has set a clear goal to reduce them by 50% by 2030. As a result, we can now provide comprehensive emission data at both your parts and order levels, allowing you to make informed decisions about your environmental impact.
Recyled Metal
We are proud to use recycled metal for production whenever possible. In particular, materials like Stainless Steel, Alloy, Copper, and Brass, among others, are suitable for recycling and maintain their strength, durability, and corrosion resistance.
Moreover, using recycled metal is energy-efficient compared to producing new metal materials.
Using rooftop rainwater and conserving resources
Rainwater is naturally distilled, thereby reducing mineral buildup and corrosion in factory equipment. By using rainwater, we conserve drinking water and reduce the need for extensive water treatment, all while extending the lifespan of our machinery.
Scrap-metal from metal spinning
We devide our scrap metal into specific containers, and bigger plates are labeled and categorized for further use. Through these measures, we achieve a more circular economy for all.
World goals
Our craftsmanship ensures products that last, while simultaneously minimizing our environmental footprint. The 17 goals for sustainable development represent an ambition for the entire world towards 2030. Olsen Metal supports these goals and wishes therefore to contribute wherever we can!
Sustainable Precision in Metal forming
By choosing Olsen Metal, you benefit from expert craftsmanship, advanced CNC technology, and precise 3D drawings that as a result reduce material waste and scrap. Ultimately, our solutions not only improve your product quality but also contribute to a greener footprint and cost savings
